The ghost made it to the screen and was later christened “Slimer.” 4. When it came time to think up the design for the first ghost the group is commissioned to bust, Aykroyd conceived of a gross-looking, gluttonous, party-guy persona for the apparition as an ironic homage to his friend Belushi. ![]() The role was later immortalized by Bill Murray, another SNL alum, but the writers still wanted to honor Belushi by somehow involving him in the movie. Part of the reason Aykroyd had to recontextualize and rethink his idea-other than its implausible potential budget-was the tragic death of his fellow former SNL castmate John Belushi, whom he envisioned as the sarcastic Peter Venkman. ![]() J OHN BELUSH I STILL APPEARS IN THE F INAL FILM, IN SPIRIT. Eventual director Ivan Reitman estimated that the first script would have cost up to $300 million to produce-and that was in 1984. The now-iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man-which is in the climax of the finished film-appeared much earlier (on page 20) and was one of 50 large-scale monsters that the Ghostbusters would do battle with. His concept involved dozens of Ghostbuster groups fighting specters across time and different dimensions. The actors he had in mind for the three main protagonists were himself, John Belushi, and Eddie Murphy. Īykroyd found comedic inspiration in films like Bob Hope's The Ghost Breakers, the horror-comedies of Abbott and Costello, and Bowery Boys fare like Spook Busters and Ghost Chasers. He went wild writing his original script, which took place in the future and had a much darker tone. GHOSTBUSTERS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH DIFFERENT-AND M UCH BIGGER. Being able to drop in your raw images makes life easier and gets you faster into the work of making the “real” image. What if you’re shooting with one of the 50+ megapixel cameras? You would shoot a stack of, say, 20 images and then have to convert them all to TIF before you can import them into your chosen focus stacking program. Of course, it retains the ability to use your camera raw files (no need to convert to TIF or jpg). I am incredibly impressed with how much Helicon Focus has improved since I first used it. Recently, however, I was preparing to be a guest lecturer for a college class to demonstrate focus stacking, and it seemed only fair that I should take another look at Helicon Focus. But I was successfully using the other software and Photoshop to stack my images. Time passed, and I don’t even remember why I first switched. It was good, and I used it for a while, then switched to another program. It's been a long wait, but I can finally use my main camera with Helicon Remote.Īlso worth noting for anyone who cares, as of today I'm running Helicon Remote and Helicon Focus on an M1 Apple Silicone Macbook Air, and so far it's a super smooth experience.Several years ago, when I first began photographing feathers, I tried some software called Helicon Focus. I haven't had a chance to test extensively, but so far I can't see any bugs. I installed the latest beta for Mac (4.0.4) and it now seems to work perfectly with my EOS R. I'll need to search for a setting to change that. I don't get notifications for these forum replies, evidently. Please install the updated version, hopefully the problems will be gone, but if not - please send a bug report (menu - Help - Report a bug). We have just found and fixed a serious internal error in the beta which could cause various observable faults, and while we can't be certain this is the same problem you've encountered, that is highly likely. Triggering the shutter is the bare minimum requirement for any remote camera app. So while your point is valid about the basic functionality of Helicon Remote you completely missed the point that this is all about not supporting mirrorless cameras. This is simply an alternative to Helicon Remote and for my purpose, Landscape Photography, the Kuuvik Capture does everything I need but I do recognize that having the ability to use near and far focus points is very useful especially for macro photography so I do not deny that the features of Helicon Remote is very useful but since it does not support mirrorless cameras and is the very reason why everyone on these forums are having difficulty with Helicon since Nikon and Canon have had mirrorless cameras for well over 2 years now and still no support. Just to add to my previous post, you are correct that the ability to set near and far focus points is a great feature that is lacking in the Kuuvik Capture software but it is an alternative to Helicon Remote since they do not support any mirrorless camera let alone Canon Mirrorless cameras. There, now I vented my frustration at you so back to my original questions: When will you support Canon Mirrorless Cameras and please don't give me the song and dance of "We are working on it". By the time you people roll out support for a product it is already out of production. When Kuuvik (DIRE Studio) provides support for the new Canon R5 and Canon R6 in the next couple of months and provides Focus Bracketing at the same time as Exposure Bracketing I will request a refund from you folks for such a bitterly disappointing product. Canon made their mirrorless products available in October of 2018 and here we are coming towards the close of 2020 and Helicon Soft has nothing for any mirrorless product. Please don't tell me it is not possible at this time since Kuuvik Capture supports Focus Bracketing for the Canon R and the Canon RP on both the Mac and iPad and can do it using WiFi or Tethered. When will Helicon start supporting Cannon Mirrorless Cameras or any mirrorless camera from any manufacturer? What a bitter disappointment Helicon Soft has been with their Helicon Remote product. ![]() This is the highest value the patient can achieve under optimum conditions (free of symptoms, feeling well).
